We all know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It's also one of the hardest meals to make time for, especially with our busy lives. A general rule is to eat something within two hours of waking up. Cereal is one of the quickest and easiest items to have. The goal with cereal is to maximize the fiber and minimize the added sugar. Below is a list of some of the best cereals out there. We've added the calories of the cereal with 1 cup skim or plain soy milk and one half cup fruit for a quick and easy breakfast. Our guidelines for picking a great cereal are:
· No more than 200 calories per 1 cup serving
· At least 5 grams (preferably more) of fiber per 1 cup serving
· No more than 10 grams of added sugar per 1 cup serving

Cereals that didn't make the cut:
Cheerios, Special K, Total, Raisin Bran... basically anything that did not meet our fiber requirements. If you love these cereals, beef up the fiber by adding a spoonful by adding a serving a berries, and a spoonful of ground flax seed.
Remember... the main things to look for are the total calories per serving, total fiber, and added sugar. The more fiber you have, the longer that meal will stay with you!!!!!
