My name is Estela Schnelle, and I am a Registered Dietitian and Nutritionist. Let me start by telling you, DIETS DO NOT WORK - EAT WHEN YOU’RE HUNGRY… and EAT REAL FOOD. This sounds so easy… but in reality, it’s not. We all struggle with what to eat and when to eat it…. including myself.
As a Nutritionist, 99% of my clients come to me to lose weight. They want to be healthy, fit, and THIN… and automatically assume that only a diet will help them achieve what they want. Early on in my life I also believed that diets were the only way to become thin and healthy. As a young girl I fell victim to the dreaded on a diet, off a diet mentality – even during college when I was working towards my Masters in Nutrition Science, I thought that to be healthy and thin, I always had to be on a diet. Society has ingrained the DIET MENTALITY in all of us from an early age, and most people - even me – used to believe that diets were the correct path to healthy weight loss.
It took me years of education, dieting, and self-discovery to free myself from the diet cycle and ultimately learn that putting my clients on a diet was the worse thing for them. There was a time when I obsessed about food, being skinny, and what I could and could not eat. I NEVER thought I could escape dieting, but I did and now want to help you do it too!
That’s where the WEEKLY BITE comes in. When I counsel my online clients, the two main things we focus on are “eating when you’re hungry”, and “never deprive yourself of food you love”. Several questions always came up such as “What do I eat when I’m hungry?” “What’s the best bread to buy?” “Is soymilk better than skim milk?” etc… That’s when I decided to develop the WEEKLY BITE, a daily email and website with the nutrition information people are looking for – how to eat healthy, still eat the foods you love, and ultimately, know yourself, your body, and your hunger better than anyone!

Estela is a Registered Dietitian and Nutritionist. She has a Masters in Nutrition Science from Texas Women’s University and has practiced in San Diego, California, Virginia, and Washington D.C. . She was formerly the Director of Clinical Nutrition at Georgetown University Medical Center and is Currently the Director of Clinical Nutrition at Sibley Hospital as well as the sole proprietor since 2007 of Simply 4 You Nutrition LLC and the editor or “The Weekly Bite” |
